Product description

The Gomboy with medium teeth is a multifunctional saw for different outdoor purposes. Whether you are sawing firewood for a campfire during your hike through the mountains or whether you are making a pot hanger to prepare a warm meal in the woods, this handy pull saw is an indispensable part of your equipment!

The Gomboy has unique teeth and saws on the pull stroke, which requires less energy and is easy to control. This does not only enable you to saw very rapidly through thick tree trunks, it also allows you to make a very precise sawing cut. That comes in handy when it comes down to precision, e.g. when making a trap or bow drill. In some situations you simply need more than just an axe or a knife.

This folding saw is compact, lightweight and can easily be carried in your backpack. In this way you are always in a position to saw wood, for instance when building a shelter or making a campfire in emergency situations. That is easier and faster than dragging branches around through the forest or collecting little branches from the ground, especially in the dark or when covered under a thick layer of snow.

Respect the nature and do not just saw in a healthy tree, but find a knocked down one or blown off branch instead. The Gomboy can easily handle wood that has gotten wet or was covered by a layer of snow for a long time.

The rubber handle of the Gomboy ensures a safe and comfortable grip. The hole in the handle offers the possibility to attach a carabiner or rope to the saw.

The blade can easily and securely be locked in two sawing positions. When folded, the teeth of the Gomboy are fully concealed in the handle. You can therefore store the saw loose in your backpack.

The Gomboy will be delivered in a transparent hard case with belt holder. The bottom is equipped with a notch and two holes to drain moisture and saw dust.

Description series

The Gomboy with medium teeth is available in four different blade lengths: 210 - 240 - 270 and 300 mm.

Do you prefer working with a curved blade? Choose the Gomboy Curve series. This series has a large teeth configuration (8 teeth per 30 mm) and is available in four different blade lengths: 210 – 240 – 270 and 300 mm.

Next to folding saws, the Gomboy series also has fixed saws in its range: the Gomboy 7. The Gomboy 7 is also available with a straight blade with medium teeth and as a curved version with large teeth. Both versions are available with blade lengths of 210 – 240 – 270 and 300 mm.

The blades of the fixed saws and foldable saws are interchangeable. You can easily unscrew the screw without the use of special equipment.

Technical specifications

  • Authentic Premium Japanese Steel
  • Blade length: 210 mm
  • Teeth: 10 teeth per 30 mm
  • Dimensions unfolded: 440 x 60 x 20 mm
  • Dimensions folded: 245 x 60 x 20mm
  • Weight: 235 g
  • Kerf: 1.3 mm

The blade must be kept clean to maintain its efficiency. Resin dissolves in olive oil, which is an effective and environmental friendly way to maintain the blade with. More aggressive liquids can damage the rubber material of the handle.

When not using the saw, make sure it is dry at all times. Store the saw in a dry place, preferably in the hard case or in an appropriate holster.

Cuts very fast!
This saw exceeded my expectations!
The saw is extremely sharp and doesn't require too much effort to use. You can easily cut wrist size branches very fast and that makes firewood duty an easy and almost enjoyable task:)

It’s got a high quality fit and finish. The locking mechanism does its job very well, the 2 positions the blade locks into give you some options in terms of comfort, and the handle is firm with a sure grip. Even if it is wet, and/or you're not wearing gloves, you won't worry about losing the grip of the saw.

This saw is perfect for backpacking or camping both in size and weight.

Tip! Remember that this saw cuts on the PULL stroke. Takes a few turns to get used to if you are coming from western push saws, but once you get the hang of it the cutting is very efficient!

The Gomboy exceeds every expectation
The nature of my work means that I depend upon a minimal kit of just four tools so each must be highly portable, utterly reliable and capable of performing well in any environment; the Silky Gomboy excels in every respect. The Gomboy’s intelligent and ergonomic design, allied with its reassuringly solid build quality, speed and finish in cutting make it the perfect saw for my work. The Gomboy exceeds every expectation and sets a new, much higher standard of quality when it comes to folding saws.

Awesome saw!
I received this saw about year and half to 2 years ago and at the time I was using other saws and thought I'd try it out amd let's say I have converted to the silky family they are the best saws to ever exist! I compared this saw at first to a saw called the bacho laplander and it out preformed it by far these saws just glide through wood. In fact they are so good my father uses a cheap saw and a chainsaw to look after his Orchard and he's had enough of sharpening chain teeth etc so much he got quite jealous when I brought this saw around for him to try and I had the 240 version and they made such light work of everything he had to get one so yes they converted him too! If you read up on these saws too there's quite alot of thought gone into them and it honestly shows I cannot recommend anymore!

Best "bang for the buck"
I've been using this saw for almost two years now, and I gotta say that I´m impressed what this seemingly little folding saw is capable of. First of all, it´s compact and lightweight so you barely notice it in your backpack, even on longer hikes. Second, it´s rubber grip is very ergonomic, it sticks in your hand like a glue. No reason to fear that you somehow slip your hand on to the blade while working with it, not even if your hands are soaking wet. Third part is the locking mechanism of the blade, there´s two locking positions for the blade, so there´s few options how you can use it. Depending on the task at hand, you can either use it like regular curved saw, or you can "straighten" the blade out if you need to work with precision. Very handy if you need to cut some notches or precise seams on wood. And last but not least, the blade itself. This thing cuts like a razor, no question about that. I´ve had my fair share of folding saws, brands such as Fiskars, Gerber, Bachco etc, but Silky is the one I consider to be the best there is on the market for the price. It goes through frozen birch limbs, dried pine branches and greenwood easily, even with the medium toothed blade. And since the blade is designed to cut when pulling the blade, it makes the saw safe and precise thing to use. Only downside is that the blade is quite thin, but it´s really not a problem when you learn how to handle it carefully enough. Two thumbs up and four and half stars for this, must have for any outdoor enthusiast!
