Product description

The Gomboy with medium teeth is a multifunctional saw for different outdoor purposes. Whether you are sawing firewood for a campfire during your hike through the mountains or whether you are making a pot hanger to prepare a warm meal in the woods, this handy pull saw is an indispensable part of your equipment!

The Gomboy has unique teeth and saws on the pull stroke, which requires less energy and is easy to control. This does not only enable you to saw very rapidly through thick tree trunks, it also allows you to make a very precise sawing cut. That comes in handy when it comes down to precision, e.g. when making a trap or bow drill. In some situations you simply need more than just an axe or a knife.

This folding saw is compact, lightweight and can easily be carried in your backpack. In this way you are always in a position to saw wood, for instance when building a shelter or making a campfire in emergency situations. That is easier and faster than dragging branches around through the forest or collecting little branches from the ground, especially in the dark or when covered under a thick layer of snow.

Respect the nature and do not just saw in a healthy tree, but find a knocked down one or blown off branch instead. The Gomboy can easily handle wood that has gotten wet or was covered by a layer of snow for a long time.

The rubber handle of the Gomboy ensures a safe and comfortable grip. The hole in the handle offers the possibility to attach a carabiner or rope to the saw.

The blade can easily and securely be locked in two sawing positions. When folded, the teeth of the Gomboy are fully concealed in the handle. You can therefore store the saw loose in your backpack.

The Gomboy will be delivered in a transparent hard case with belt holder. The bottom is equipped with a notch and two holes to drain moisture and saw dust.

Description series

The Gomboy with medium teeth is available in four different blade lengths: 210 - 240 - 270 and 300 mm.

Do you prefer working with a curved blade? Choose the Gomboy Curve series. This series has a large teeth configuration (8 teeth per 30 mm) and is available in four different blade lengths: 210 – 240 – 270 and 300 mm.

Next to folding saws, the Gomboy series also has fixed saws in its range: the Gomboy 7. The Gomboy 7 is also available with a straight blade with medium teeth and as a curved version with large teeth. Both versions are available with blade lengths of 210 – 240 – 270 and 300 mm.

The blades of the fixed saws and foldable saws are interchangeable. You can easily unscrew the screw without the use of special equipment.

Technical specifications

  • Authentic Premium Japanese Steel
  • Blade length: 210 mm
  • Teeth: 10 teeth per 30 mm
  • Dimensions unfolded: 440 x 60 x 20 mm
  • Dimensions folded: 245 x 60 x 20mm
  • Weight: 235 g
  • Kerf: 1.2 mm

The blade must be kept clean to maintain its efficiency. Resin dissolves in olive oil, which is an effective and environmental friendly way to maintain the blade with. More aggressive liquids can damage the rubber material of the handle.

When not using the saw, make sure it is dry at all times. Store the saw in a dry place, preferably in the hard case or in an appropriate holster.

Easy one of my favourite tools!
Do you wonder what to get a loved one that is into bushcraft as a gift for his/her birthday or christmas? Worry not! The Silky Gomboy 210 is here to help!
Almost 2 years from now I got my first Silky saw. It was exactly this little friend here. So for the last 2 years I had this saw in moderate use, took it on all my hikes and had it even in my day packs. So here is a quick summary of the pros and cons I discovered in the last 2 years.

Cons:
The saw blade is really thin and if you don't handle the saw correctly - for example pushing it while sawing - you can break the saw blade. I know it is on purpose so thin and I am glad that it is, because it saves some weight and makes sawing easier. It hurts to listen something negative about this saw but I really don't want to hold back informations or experiences. While I sawed aprox. a 7 meter long tree with a diameter of around 10-12 cm in to small pieces I got at some point (after a lot of trees :-) ) so exhausted that I pushed down the saw with force and it got tangeled in a piece of wood and the tip broke. I know this is not the materials fault but just my own stupidity. But believe me when I say you, that using this little budy is so much fun I didn't want to stop.

Another Con is that the Silky if compared to other handsaws are a little bit more expensive.

Now to the good things!:

Even after 2 years of heavy duty it still is sharp.
Compared to other handsaws (won't mention any names but every bushcrafter knows the one for around 20 bucks) the Silky Gomboy absolutely destroys any competition. You are not just saving time but a lot - believe me, A LOT! - of energy aswell.
If used correctly this tool is a robust and sturdy tool that doesn't need much affection. I know everyone talks about taking care of the sawblades by coating them with oil to protect it from rust. I never used any oil on mine and I used it in very humid places. Just dry it with your shirt or a piece of cloth.

All in all I think this saw is woth every penny and if handled in the right hands, it will last for a very very long time.

I hope all you guys have peacful holidays!
