Product description

This multifunctional pruning saw is perfect for all kinds of general pruning activities in your garden. Do not be fooled by the size of the Pocketboy. This small saw delivers great performance! And, as the Pocketboy easily fits in your pocket, you can always have this saw on hand.

The Pocketboy is lightweight and perfectly balanced. Sawing is exceptionally smooth with this saw and you are able to work in the most densely grown spaces. Pruning was never as much fun before as it is now!

In case you are not used to sawing with a Silky pull saw, be aware of the razor sharp teeth that rapidly work through the wood. Even after frequent use, the teeth remain sharp for a very long time, so that time and time again a smooth tree cut will be left behind that the tree recovers well and quickly from.

When not using the Pocketboy, the blade folds easily with the locking mechanism. The sharp teeth are safely covered as they are completely concealed in the handle. When the saw is needed, it can simply be unfolded thanks to the notch in the blade, even when wearing gloves. The blade securely locks in two different positions with the locking mechanism.

The rubber handle absorbs vibrations and offers a perfect grip. The Pocketboy feels comfortable in the hand, even after prolonged use. The hole in the handle offers the possibility of attaching a rope or carabiner to the saw.

You could carry the Pocketboy on your belt in the transparent hard case it is standard delivered in, or choose for an appropriate rubber holster. This folding saw could also handily be stored away in a toolbox.

The extraordinary cutting capacity of the Pocketboy has given this saw the nickname “Little Giant”.

Description series

The Pocketboy is available in four different teeth configurations:

  • Large (8 teeth per 30 mm), also available with curved blade
  • Medium (10 teeth per 30 mm)
  • Fine (20 teeth per 30 mm)
  • Extra fine (26 teeth per 30 mm)

Each teeth configuration is available in two different blade lengths: 130 and 170 mm.

The blades are interchangeable within the same length. The screw can easily be unscrewed without needing tools, so that you can have one saw for multiple purposes.

The Pocketboy is standard delivered in a transparent hard case with belt clip.

Technical specifications

  • Authentic Premium Japanese Steel
  • Blade length: 170 mm

  • Dimensions unfolded: 375 x 65 x 25 mm
  • Dimensions folded: 210 x 60 x 25 mm

The blade must be kept clean to maintain its efficiency. Resin dissolves in olive oil, which is an effective and environmental friendly way to maintain the blade with. More aggressive liquids can damage the rubber material of the handle.

Outstanding
Having used several folding pocket saws I discovered the Silky range and I can honestly say that this has got to be the best saw ever! Razor sharp teeth and the ability to cut at an extremely efficient rate makes this folding saw my personal favorite. The top quality grippy rubber handle and plastic case and the ability to change the blade if and when it gets dull is an excellent feature.

Highly recommended for any form of camping trip.

If you do not yet already own one then trust me, you need one in your pack!

Excellent Small Saw for the Outdoors/Bushcraft/Survival, or Garden.
The Silky Pocketboy 170(Pb 170) was my very first Silky saw. It is the saw that turned me onto Silky Saws in general, and for a reason.
Here some 5 years later, I have not yet changed the blade. My Pb 170 have been used extensively in a tough environment. I'm Danish, but I live in Russian wild country. I have used the Pb 170 in temperatures as low as -33C. The blade is of course not as sharp as when I got the saw, as I have been cutting frozen wood, fresh wood, dry wood, ice and snow for snow shelters, and what not. The handle and lock are all good. Never had a problem. Even the transparent hard case is still intact. I broke off the folding lid once,(stepped on it) but it snapped back on, no problem. The hinge did not break.

Using a Japanese Pull-Action Saw takes a little getting used to. However, the Pull-Action gives the user much great control when cutting, thus making the saw safer to use as well. The Pull-Action saw is less likely to skid or slide up and over onto the users hand, than a conventional push saw.
